Dry whole turmeric rhizomes are brrought in. These rhizomes are then grounded to 40 mesh pieces by hammer mill. Broken down pieces shall be passed to vibratory sieve. Finer particles lesser than 40 mesh will be collected at the bottom.

40 mesh pieces will be loaded inside perforated stainless steel box which is put inside steam distillation chamber. Once evrything is properly closed, steam will be passed through header and to dispensers. The dispensers of steam are located at the bottom of perforated box and even distribution of steam is acheived. As the steam will pass through the box and ground pieces, volatile oil will also get vaporised and will be passed though condenser. In this condenser with the help of cooling water, vapor is converted into liquid and will be colleccted at the receiver tank. From this tank it will be pumped at the inlet of agitated thin film evaporator and excess water is removed and high purity oil is collected at the bottom.

Once the batch is complete raw material placed in the perforated box is removed and put into agitated tank of suitable capacity filled with pharma grade pure ethanol. This mixture is stirred thoroughly to acheive optimum solubility of curcumin. After completion of batch, this liquid is remeoved and collected in a tank. From this tank it will be pumped at the inlet of agitated thin film evaporator and ethanol is removed and high purity curcumin is collected at the bottom. Ethanol vapors are passed through condenser and liquid ethanol is collected at receiving tank for recirculation in next batch.

Remaing solid particles after curmin extraction, are passed through grinding mill and fine turmeric powder is produced.
